Losing weight is a simple – exert more energy than what you consume. In simpler words, higher caloric output than caloric input. While this basic principle sounds simple enough, carrying it out is not that easy.
I should know, I've been there.
The first step most dieticians recommend is to make detailed lists of everything we consume (food and beverages). Only then, do we truly realize how far our caloric input is far from matching our lifestyle requirements. Some of us will even discover that our diet consists of foods that are saturated with fat, trans-fat, sodium and many more ingredients that we don’t need. Studying and analyzing this list can usually help us to pinpoint our bad dietary habits; however life has a plan of its own. While consciously we do try to watch what we’re putting into our mouth, unconsciously we tend to avoid our strict rules and to skip some things we eat from our list. Getting support from family and friends could be beneficial, however, it’s sometimes difficult as they don’t want to hurt us and we feel vulnerable to admit our problems to them.
This is where UMeThin comes in.

This website’s goal is to help you find a “Virtual” Diet Buddy. This complete stranger will give you an honest and constructive feedback on your Weight loss program progress and in return they expect that you will do the same for them.
While most users aren't qualified nutritionists, they do have common sense, dieting experience and sense of camaraderie. Armed with these, your virtual support group will help you with keeping a balanced lifestyle. For example, they can help you see the folly in some of your choices- like eating a chocolate bar every day. Our users will send and receive a diet report on their chosen reporting basis to their Diet Buddy on their diet and exercise regime. Taking advantage of human nature- especially of our fear of criticism, even from complete strangers- we believe that getting feedback from our buddies will provide all the needed motivation needed to successfully complete the diet.
